The Machines and Their Manuals

At the heart of the show will be The Machines & Their Manuals, a zone showcasing up to 40 cars and motorcycles that have been immortalised in the world-famous Haynes workshop manuals.

The display will symbolise the passion John Haynes had to connect technical with every day, using the Haynes manuals to make the detail of vehicles accessible to everyone. This display will showcase some of the most important and impactful cars that shaped their manuals as well as the stories behind countless DIY repairs and restoration work carried out using a manual.

The curated collection of cars and motorcycles will include a breadth of cars from the decades, from the 1960s to modern day.

The Museum itself will bring some of its cars to make up the display which were actively part of their respective manual creations. These include the 1965 ‘Project 50’ Mustang, which was restored for a Haynes US restoration guide and part of the 50th anniversary of the manuals as well as a 2001 Citroen Saxo Max Power, which was one of the ‘definitive guide to modifying’ manuals.

The display of machines will be a celebration of the interest and joy Haynes Manuals have brought to people around the world.
